Day 1 - A Feast Begins

Your journey starts in Turku, a city celebrated not only for its rich history but also for its thriving culinary scene. Your day begins with leisurely exploration, taking in the charming streets, and perhaps popping in the local brewery like Brewery Koulu, or popular river boats that you can’t miss!

The true culinary delight awaits in the evening when you dine at Smör, a restaurant that has been recognized in the Michelin Guide for its culinary prowess. While Smör may not yet boast Michelin stars, it has carved a reputation for excellence and innovation in the kitchen. Here, you’ll embark on a gastronomic adventure, savoring dishes that artfully blend tradition and modernity.

Following this unforgettable dinner experience, your overnight stay at boutique Hotel Seurahuone ensures you’re conveniently in the heart of Turku, ready for the gourmet adventures that await on Day 2.

Day 2 - Market Hall Delights

Prepare your taste buds for an extraordinary day of gastronomic exploration in Turku’s lively Market Hall.

Your journey begins with a signature breakfast at Hotel Seurahuone. The day takes you to the Herkkunuotta eatery, where local delicacies take center stage. You will taste local archipelago bread with a pike mousse, and hear about the food ideology of the company.

Next up is MBakery café at the Market Hall, where you’ll encounter a Finnish classic, the Piispanmunkki doughnut. These delectable treats are a local specialty, fried to perfection and glazed with a delightful pink sugar topping.

Today you will also have free time to get to know the Turku urban city centre. Explore boutiques, exhibitions, museums and the central market square with fresh fruits and vegetables. When you get hungry, enjoy a lunch by the River Aura or have a picnic like the locals do!

In the evening, you will enjoy dinner in the Kakolan Ruusu restaurant. Getting there is easy, just choose between taxi, Föli city-bike, or seize the moment by walking along beautiful Aura River towards Turku guest harbour. Funicular will take you on top of the Kakola hill. Kakolanruusu is a culinary gem showcasing local ingredients in dishes that burst with flavor. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and perfect for creating memorable moments with friends and fellow travelers.

Day 3 - Farewell with Flavor

After tasty breakfast, you will check-out and have a final chance to visit the city centre. KBC Taproom – Cozy and relaxed brewery restaurant on the Hill of Kakola in the old prison kitchen.

This unique eatery, run by the local brewery Kakola Brewing Company, offers more than just delicious pizzas and vibrant drinks. It’s a place where you can savor straightforward pizzas made with local ingredients, enjoy hassle-free service, and soak in a lively atmosphere.
At KBC Taproom you’ll have the chance to taste interesting beers straight from the brewery’s own tanks and savor colorful natural wines from small producers.

On Saturdays the atmosphere is pumped up a notch by the rotating DJ lineup. Throughout the week you can also partake in guided or independent beer tastings. Guided beer tasting only on prebooking.

Come and enjoy local beers at beautiful surroundings. Kakola Brewing Company is fairly new brewery but have taken their place as the locals’s choice. Kakola Hill’s atmosphere is cozy and local. So this have a little tasting of local beers in this old prison settings.

Turku river boats

The Turku Market Hall was opened to public in the centre of Turku in 1896 and it is the second oldest in Finland. The shops in the market hall range from the oldest ones in Turku to brand new. They offer a wide selection of delicacies, but also the building itself is worth visiting. It is a gem of Finnish building tradition and in the highest protection class as a highly valuable cultural historical site.
