Eider Safari to Bengtskär Lighthouse

Trip to Bengtskär, the highest lighthouse in the Nordic countries, is a wonderful experience. In spring, the lighthouse island is home to hundreds of common eiders, which are accustomed to humans. Predators stay away, and the inhabited nature provides a safe nesting environment. We will also visit the lighthouse itself and enjoy lunch and coffee during the day.

Departure: Turku bus station, charter bus platform number 10 at 9:00 a.m.

Program: We will drive through rural landscapes to the southern part of Kemiönsaari to Kasnäs, where the ferry departs towards Bengtskär at 11:00 a.m. We will travel to the Bengtskär via Örö island, where we will change boats (the journey will continue immediately). We arrive at around 12:15 p.m., and the tour begins with a presentation on the history of the lighthouse. We also hear about the common eiders and get to see a exhibition on them. In spring, hundreds of eider ducks nest on Bengtskär Island, and by mid-May, some of the ducklings may have already hatched, allowing us to admire charming broods of eider ducklings waddling or swimming around.

Next we will have lunch and coffee with sweet buns at the lighthouse café. After lunch, you can explore the lighthouse on your own, climb the lighthouse tower, and enjoy the magnificent sea view.

Return: At 3:30 p.m we will take the return boat back to Kasnäs, where the bus awaits. We will arrive in Turku around 6:30 p.m.
